skate journal: good times at glenn close with dave (march 10, 2025)

Feeling a bit lazy after work I remembered the good slappy curb across the street so I went there. I did some slappies to start, a couple flippers. Then went behind the school and would settle in on a line for a while. F/s halfcab flip then ollie onto this darn rock that I struggle to ollie onto. I would get it finally! It still wasn’t easy, but took less than 10 tries. That’s definitely the most f/s hc flips I’ve done in a while. Then I went back to the curb area, but got in line mode with the little bank and manhole. Dave got in on the action right away too, we had some good stuff for us. He had a good long line with nollie back 180 into the little hill, fakie shove, switch crooks shove, kickflip. Everything was so good. Feeble grinds on the curb, so many good switch slappy crooks, some good switch front crooks, switch 180 over the manhole, pop shove over the manhole, so good. I mostly had some little slappy switch crook jibs and got a kickflip over the manhole after one. Got halfcab flip, sloppy b/s flip, fakie flip, kickflip, fakie bigspin, pop shove into the little hill. And a front shove over the manhole with a fun hand down carve after. I couldn’t get heelflip or treflip, although pretty close on both.

skate journal: a little valmont and bank spot with skelly then some random ollies (march 9, 2025)

Met Skelly on a warm afternoon at dog park. We chatted a while, then went over to the toddler zone and tried to get warmed up. It was too much for me though and I suggested we bounce to a nearby bank spot. And it ended up being super fun even though we only did a few tricks. I want to go back and do a better ledge trick then front tail or something on the bank to curb. Skelly’s one foot was so sick.

I dropped Skelly off and went back to a nearby building. Did a couple lines with tiny ollies up and over some little curbs. I think halfcab flip, ollie up, ollie down. Maybe the same with heelflip. It was kind of embarrassing how difficult those ollies were. Heelflips were hard too, I was wearing different shoes – Vans. I went around the corner and saw the 4 stair and knew I had no reason not to try it. I got it in about 5 tries and it felt pretty cool.

skate journal: westminster park with monico! and cass and matty and then some broomfield (march 8, 2025)

Up early on a crisp Saturday morning I met up with Monico! Then Cass and Monico’s brother Matty met too. We tooled around a little and then Cass, Monico and I played a game of SKATE. Monico obviously won it, but it was a decent warm up and I did get a few flippers at least. Then I filmed Monico get like 3 lines in like 5 minutes. He is so incredible I can’t even believe it. Cass was ripping too, front noseslide and front board shove on the flat bar. Monico 50’d the biggest rail in the park, varial heeled up the euro, big heel the hip, kickflip over the pyramid. It was amazing. Matty learned nollie front heel over the hip and added nollie heel and nollie inward heel. I had a fun line of switch front nose the flat bar to quick fakie flip. The boardslide did not come easy, the setup is so quick. It was fun though.

After some breakfast Cass and I met up with birthday boy Sean at Broomfield. Also there was Gordon, Jesse and Darin. I was really sore. I had some okay crooks, some tricks on the bank to curb, but that’s about it. Gordon pop shove to manual on the black box. Sean’s ollies on the steep bank were so sick. At the end Gordon, Jesse and I played a game of SKATE. I was so sore, but managed a few flippers and it was SKAT for all of us and Gordon one on nollie back heel. I’m okay with a letter on that one.
