skate journal: campus blah had nothing (dec 23, 2024)

Feeling pretty blah for some reason on a day off work I went to campus after a bit of shopping. I started out up by the tunnel of the hill and attempted to get my body working. My feet were not feeling great, but probably better than the last couple days. My first couple ollies and nollies felt good, but that quickly dissipated. Tried to do a line of pop shove on flat, ride on grind the no-longer-waxed uphill curb, front tail over the micro curb hip. But lots of people were walking around and I wasn’t into it. Ended up a couple buildings lower and saw someone had put a copious amount of wax on the double sided curb/ledge. I took way too long to boardslide it, the pop out was hard. I had hucked a few flippers but nothing worked. Had a couple noseslides, switch front noses, a sorry excuse for a crook. Went to the fitness center area and tried to ollie a rock, but gave up as I knew I didn’t have the drive to commit. Did a noseslide on the downhill alley ledge on the way to the car and that was it.

skate journal: solo campus baker and bank to curb (dec 22, 2024)

Had some time before family festivities and went to campus on a cloudy but warm day. Was pretty sore. Was delighted to see Baker ledge was completely clear so I skated there most of the time. Warming up was pretty brutal, but since no one was around it was nice to work into things slowly. I kept not quite getting clean manuals, but would eventually get a line of manual, noseslide to fakie, fakie flip. Going the other way I did a few halfcab flips and got a couple of front 50s after. Like actual front 50s which I haven’t done there in what feels like years. They weren’t fast, but it’s been a long time since I did actual grinds there and it felt great. I hucked a lot of other flippers, but came up short. Came close to back 50, had some switch noseslides.

Went down to the bank to curb to try some front shove to back 50s. Would get kind of close, but never got both feet on it. Settled for an alley oop front 50. Had done a couple flippers like varial flip, b/s flip and fakie bigflip. Decent session for how tired and sore I was.

skate journal: brief broomfield warm up then westy station and a little squeekside (dec 21, 2024)

Posted in Skate Journal on December 23rd, 2024 by corpo

On an incredibly nice day I met Cass and Kyle at Broomfield. Taylor was there and did a nice crooks shove. We didn’t skate long, just some warm ups and a brief flatground sesh. Cass had first try hardflip, I had fakie bigflip first t, Kyle had a bunch of tricks first try. I was happy to try one front 50 on the black ledge and it came easily.

Off to Westminster station which I’ve been wanting to check out for a couple of years now. We met Ryan and Greg there. They were skating the ride on grind spot where we started at, but Cass, Kyle and I went through the tunnel to the two downhill ledges. Kyle felt out an amazing line and did nollie heel front tail and fakie front nose shove. But he got smoked trying nollie inward heel front nose and chilled the rest of the day. I had a couple fun warm up lines. Switch nose, nollie tail, b/s flip. Switch nose 270 shove, front 50 180, fakie flip. Should have filmed that one ha it was better than what I tried to film for a long time. Cass had done front noseslides and some front 50s but wasn’t feeling it. I went in on a line of switch nose 270 shove then front 50 shove which I did, but both tricks were done poorly. Argh. It was fun trying so hard though and I might end up saving for Stubborns 2 (coming in 20 years). Back to the ride on grind area I got a 5-0 across it, Kyle did nosegrind, Ryan did front tail, front lip, back lip all messing around as he had already filmed tricks out of those.

After lunch and a couple of margs I stopped at squeekside just because it was there and still so nice out. I didn’t really do much. Some slappies, rock and roll the transition to curb, some pivots on the ultra tiny bank to curb. Ended on a line of ollie into a downhill piece of wood, nollie front tail the countertop, crook jib the qp to curb.
