skate journal: short wilville with ollie in the cold (april 3, 2020)
After work on a cold evening Ollie and I cruised to Wilville. On the way there Ollie had some nice ollies going pretty fast. We started at the little oval ledge area. It became apparent quickly that my sore neck would make ollies difficult. Ollie did a noseslide to fakie which I’ve never seen him do before. He also did a no comply 3 shove. He was trying for impossible though. We hit the little 3 stair. Well, Ollie did. He also did a nose stall on the 2nd stair which impressed me more. I didn’t even ollie it. We hit the rock garden area for a bit. Ollie had a little line of ollie down the 2 stair then rock ride to fakie. I was pretty over it. We went to the manny pad, but there was a cop posted up. So we ended up at the bank/stair spot. We were messing around trying side rocks to fakie and they just kind of evolved into what we did. I had first just tried to ride along the ledge and ollie off. It somehow got a lot less scary when I added the grind to it. Ollie and I rotated for awhile, he took awhile too. I was super hyped on his trick and when he got it I finally committed to rolling off the ledge. It doesn’t look tall in the video at all, but it sure felt tall. I was pretty hyped on landing that. Someone should do a nice long 5-0 to fakie on it. Anyway, we went home after that. It was quite cold.
