skate journal: little longmont park again with dave on a nice day (oct 5, 2018)
Got to take another half day at work. It was another beautiful day, although at the end of the session it got very windy. There was another dude when we showed up. His girlfriend was sitting on one of the bump to ledges watching as he hucked some tech flyouts. He didn’t speak much, but he was fine to skate with. Warming up took a bit. I had a goal of tailslide over the hip then 360 flip to fakie the next bank. After taking a bit to do a kickflip to fakie and getting a first try back kickflip on the bank I went in on it. I was annoyed with how small my board was feeling. Dave was warming up with slides over the hip, 180s, did a cool line with a fakie ollie to front 50 down the little hubba. We played with our lines and some other stuff in between then started taking turns filming each other. Dave was trying a line of back 50 the ledge then the ollie on to boardslide, but couldn’t consistently get the back 50. Maybe because the angle was totally insane. But write this day down in history because I got my front tail – 360 flip line before Dave got his line. This might be the first time I did something remotely quick. Dave’s switch 360 boneless over the rail was insane. I tried several ollies over the other rail and it seemed more doable this time around, but I still never committed. I blame the wind somewhat. My other line was supposed to end with halfcab noseslide, but after landing the kickflip so cleanly (for me) I just went with the cheater switch front nose. I had tried a couple crooks and felt very uncomfortable trying them. Weird. Then the wind kicked in heavy and it was time to leave anyway.
