skate journal: pop training at the school across the street (may 30, 2018)
Feeling a little better I went across the street in the evening. I wanted to start at the curb, but due to recent rain it was littered with pebbles everywhere. It was so annoying. I quickly ended up behind the school which had fewer pebbles and more rocks to skate. Ha. I only had about 30 minutes to skate. I spend most of it trying a line of front axle stall on the tallest rock, crooks a little bench on a nearby table, heelflip on flat, ollie onto the tallish quick rock. I realize these descriptions are terrible and have included a couple screen shots for reference. Sometimes I tried smith stall instead at the start. My new setup was popping good. I was also surprised heelflips were working. I never committed on top of the rock though. After awhile I gave up on the line and would just try the rock by itself. On the way back I would try flip tricks and to my surprise I was rattling them off. 360 flip, halfcab flip, fakie bigflip, b/s flip. It hyped me up enough to finally commit to getting on that rock a few times. I never rode out though.. I’ve been wanting to try that for a few months now so that felt good at least. I had put some Bones medium bushing in, they felt much better than the hard Venoms.
