skate journal: dog park flatground with jake on a nice sunday (march 25, 2018)

Feeling very sore I met up with Jake around noon at the Dog Park. Warming up wasn’t great. Jake was doing lines over the cone. Ollies, front 180s and halfcabs. I had a first try heelflip, but struggled to ollie the cone. Jake and I started a game of SKATE. But he broke his deck on a frontside flip make. So while he setup a new board that he had in the car I went for the cone ollie. Took quite a few tries, but I did get it and it felt awesome. Then we resumed our game. With added grip Jake was now able to get 360 flip (ha ha Jake). At one point I was up SK – SKAT with tricks like halfcab flip, heelflip, fakie flip, but he tied it up with a fakie 360 shove and something else. We both wanted to end on fakie tre, but gave up after awhile and tried some random tricks. Too my surprise I got a halfcab heel which Jake had never even tried before. It’s a rare thing for me to actually win against Jake so that was cool. Then we just kind of went slow trying new or rare tricks. Jake wanted a heelflip and wanted to learn fakie varial flip, but never quite got either. I don’t think I put down anything either even though I came close to an awful lot. Was most bummed on how I couldn’t land a 360 flip or nollie 360 flip. Oh well. That was it for skating, felt good to only skate for an hourish.
