skate journal: solo louisville struggles because of my knee (oct 22, 2017)
Went to Louisville park feeling very motivated even though my left knee had started hurting more. My chiropractor said it didn’t look like anything serious so I went skating. Initially I thought I would not be able to skate at all, any attempt to ollie was met with knee pain and resistance. I should have left, but I’m stubborn. Took a couple runs in the snake run, tried some no ollie tricks on the little ledge, then eventually kind of skated normal. There was a crew of teenagers when I first got there mostly just lurking which was annoying. At least a couple actually skated. I tried a couple lines. Switch noseslide 270 the little ledge, fakie flip on flat, halfcab noseslide the main ledge. Never got a halfcab noseslide even though I got into so many of them. It was weird. Going the other way I tried front 50 shove the main ledge for awhile then gave up to just switch noseslide (going back to fakie was fun and I was getting better at them), switch front 180 on flat then back 50 the tiny ledge going over the corner. It took me forever. I did a few other tricks in between. Nothing special, some ollies over the hip, bean plant on the flat bank, crooks the ledge. But once I finally got the line I left. Oh and of course I accidentally did a 5-0 instead of 50. Oh well.
