skate journal: stubborn struggles in the snow for flatground friday with dave (dec 2, 2016 day 337)
Didn’t think I would, but I met up with Dave during a flurry at the hockey rink at Blue Skies on my lunch break. It was 30 degrees. When I got there the concrete was dry, but it quickly turned wet as the snow came down harder. Warming up felt next to impossible. My board felt huge and my legs were frozen. Dave struggled initially too. Oh yeah, I had put some old Bones bushings in to see if they don’t freeze up. They didn’t, but man I hated them. Gonna have to find another option. We eventually started trying tricks. Dave was kind of doing cab bigspins. It wont be long before he has it smooth. He had some really good lines with front shove, nollie 180, switch front shove. Tried some switch 360 flips. Tried sex changes for awhile and got one. He started trying heelflips too. He almost got one of the first ones he tried. I really struggled. Lots of slams on tricks like kickflip, fakie flip and halfcab flip. I am going to blame the bushings. Ha. I tried the Ironman line for awhile, only got one heelflip though. 0-3 on treflips. Got a bad nollie tre, a few halfcab flips, one fakie bigflip. Posed some switch flips, still think I am getting closer to it. I left and went back to work then got a text from Dave an hour later saying he landed the heelflip finally. Ha ha. Dave you rule.
