skate journal: impromptu SKATE with a stranger in front of my house (july 6, 2016 day 188)
So I found some Venture lows in my garage after all and didn’t hesitate to put them on. Something about how they look on my setup hypes me up so much. And with skating everyday sometimes it’s the little things that get me out skating. I had played soccer with Ollie and walked to get sorbet with India so I didn’t get out until it was almost dark. I was tired and sore at that point so I lost interest in going anywhere. I went in front of the house for what I thought would just be a few kickflips. My first few carves on the Ventures felt so good. Awesome. Things were feeling better then I thought they would and I got a little further on the trick list. Fakie flip, halfcab flip and 2-2 on heelflips. This dude named Levi that I have never met before was biking by, clapped for my heelflip then asked if I wanted to play SKATE. Ha. Sure. He used my board. He was fun to skate with. Neither of us could land 360 flips, I blame the fact that it was mostly dark, he can blame my dumb low setup (ha). I got another heelflip to go 3-3 for the night, had some problems with halfcab flips, but got fakie bigflip and a few other tricks to eventually beat him. It was cool though, we were just messing around with some tricks like fakie caspers and stuff.
