Cold Skies was a struggle earlier , but @fullertrron got a new combo at least. #40degreesmyass #itwascold

It was supposed to be a warm day. It was not. It was overcast, breezy and cold. I got there first and the warm up process seemed impossible. It literally took me 5 tries to land a kickflip. That is the worst in a long, long time for me. Dave started slow too and I mentioned we should both focus our boards and leave them in the snow. Ha. It would get better though. I had a line of boardslide, no comply 180 then switch noseslide followed by a crooks on the little ledge. Dave got the combo above. So rad. I got a front shove off the main middle ledge. No ollie up and it took a long time, but I must say it felt really awesome to land it.

skate journal: wallie/nollies, switch flippers and ledge sucking (jan 17, 2016 day 17)

Feeling pretty tired after celebrating Fuzz’s 40th birthday I went out for a lazy session. I wanted to do a better nollie wallride for the game. I was hoping Valmont would be dry enough to try a better tailslide too, but it wasn’t. So I ended up nearby trying the wallie nollies on a regular wall. I didn’t have it on lock, but man it’s fun when you land it. I also tried a bunch of switch f/s flips and got pretty darn close. Man that would be cool.

I eventually moved on to research ledge to get a little grind on. Noseslides and crooks went ok. But then I got stuck on back 50 and exhaustion had settled in. I would eventually get a couple really bad back 50s. A really back halfcab noseslide. Posed halfcab crooks. Posed a bunch of switch flip and switch frontside flip attempts going back up the hill. Got close. All in all I skated better then I thought I would, but it was still a pretty lazy session.

skate journal: all day skate marathon. southern hills, indian peaks and dave’s ramp (jan 16, 2016 day 16)

Up early on a Saturday morning. Well, early for this time of year. It’s hard to get up real early with the sun rising so late. I went to Southern Hills as I thought it would be a decent place to try the front tail shove since it’s in the sun. Obviously I wasn’t up for the benches, but the step seemed good and in the sun. But the wind came and man did it suck. The wind was so intense at times and made it so cold that I wanted to leave. Instead I stubbornly kept trying front tails on the curb. I would get a couple decent tailslides for me and one tail”slide” shove that meets the minimum requirements. I got a few flippers too, but it was hard with the wind.

We out here being stubborn.

After some lunch I met Dave and Jake at India Peaks. The sun wasn’t out anymore, but at least it wasn’t windy anymore. We had to shovel a little, but for the most part it was perfect. Dave did a perfect wallie/nollie real quick. We setup GP (hosercam) to capture it, but somehow Dave was unable to do it again. It was weird. He would actually struggle with most tricks he tried after that too. Pop shoves, switch shoves, kickflips. Tough day. Nothing came easy for me either, but I did come away with some tricks I was happy with. Wallie/nollie (kind of anyway), halfcab flip and sex change. Jake almost came down with frontside wallride and fakie flip. Aki joined us for awhile and had kickflip to fakie and f/s flip. It was cool seeing him outside of the park.

Lastly we went to Dave’s ramp as the sun was setting and brr it was cold. There were a couple ice patches we had to watch out for. I guess i continually rode through them without knowing it. That’s how skilled I am on ramps, I don’t even know where I’m going. Ha. I had fun though, got a few of my tricks. Dave was trying Bag Ladies. I think he got one. Lots of other cool tricks. Jake had the rad tailblock above, pivot fakie and a bunch more. Fun ender for a fun day.
