skate journal: southern hills with carleigh then noseslides (dec 21, 2015 day 341)

Went to Southern Hills around 1 after a day of mostly slacking. It’s the shortest day of the year and my body mostly just wanted to hibernate. I got to Southern Hill first and didn’t have much motivation at all. Carleigh came after awhile and we mostly just did some stuff on the curb. I had tried to wax it, but it really didn’t grind much. I did a couple back 180 nose pivots that felt like they could grind, but didn’t. I filmed Carleigh to try and get all close and annoying like @drpurpleteeth. I guess you have to get even closer. Carleigh also had a couple good noseslides on the bench. Then she had to leave and I thought I might too, but I ended up staying for awhile trying noseslide shoves. I tried the frontside ones first and they took me awhile. Between tries I would either pose front or switch crooks on the curb. Technically I think I landed both, but not really. I was actually kind of motivated about skating though. After I got the f/s one the b/s one came much quicker. Then I left. It wasn’t cold, but it surely felt like winter. The wind would kick in at times and it was draining. The front nose shove is the first one I’ve done outside of my garage.

skate journal: campus fun at one spot (dec 20, 2015 day 340)

boulder skatespots galore

Woke up early and motivated to skate. I wanted to redeem the crappy session the day before. I went to campus around 10am in search of dry. I passed on the engineering area as it was too dark. I found this, waxed it some more and started the warm up process of slappy noseslides and stuff. Before long I tried a line. Front 50, go around to the right, kickflip on flat , ollie up the curb, come back and manual the low part of the ledge from the flagstone. I was hyped. Then I went a little harder. Front 50 front 180 out, halfcab flip on flat, kickflip up the curb, nose manual the manny pad. The nose manny felt extra rad because it felt more just like a nosebonk and I’ve never really done that trick. Then the line that would take me forever. Front 50 shove out, fakie flip, switch 180 up the curb, come back and ollie the little curb to drop. No tricks in that line came easy and when I got it I was rather stoked. I sat for a minute and contemplated leaving, but I’m too stubborn. I went for a line of front 5-0, 360 flip on flat, front 180 nose manual. I only landed one 360 flip though and it was the very first one and I bailed the front 180 noseman. Then a cop drove by and posted up behind the building. So I left. I pushed/walked around a little looking for more, but decided to go home instead as I was pretty sore and tired.
