skate journal: broomfield park with carleigh, then some boulder spots with jack too (july 3, 2015 day 179)
Posted in Skate Journal on July 4th, 2015 by corpoWent to Broomfield park with Carleigh on a sunny and warm day. There were some scooter kids, soccer kids and other activities that would briefly mess up the flow, but for the most part the park was pretty dead and we got to do whatever we felt like. After some pumping around and stuff I started trying a line with manual the blue box, ollie up onto the downhill ledge, front tail the qp and back 5-0 the blue ledge. I ended up getting it and it felt cool, but it took me like 20 tries to get a clean manual. Unlike Carleigh who did it 2nd try. She was hyped! She tried back disasters on the brick qp for awhile before we settled in on the black ledge for awhile. Carleigh was trying noseslide back 270 shoves out. She got pretty close near the end. I got front 50 shove, front 50 180, slow back 50s, crooks and halfcab noseslide.
After a little break we skated the brick qp and the top of the park. Carleigh was doing ollies into the bank then back d’s on the brick qp. She would also do bluntslides on the little hump up top. I had a line with front 360 on the hump, switch 180 into the bank then front smith on the qp. Then the little line above. I have never grinded that bank before and it was quite scary. I wanted to 50 it too, but I chickened out.
Then we went in to Boulder and met Jack at the dentist 5 stair. Well, after he did the ride on 50 pressure flip out thing. Jack boardslide the kink, back 180’d the stairs, nollied them. Carleigh ollied them. We got the boot. Then I finally ollied them. Then we ended up at the bank spot over the holes above. It was really hot at this point. Carleigh did some Glen ollies over the holes. Jack did some really popped kickflips. I did a not popped kickflip. Then started trying bigflip which I ended up getting and Carleigh was kind enough to film it. I’m stoked! We ended with a game of SKATE that ended early after Jack slammed really hard on a fakie tre and we all knew we should just stop. Luckily Jack redeemed himself with a super good fakie tre and we left on a good note.
